Does Baby Make Three? (Anti-Abortion)

This is going to be the start of quite a few posts concerning political, social, and economic matters. For one of my classes (Contemporary World Issues), I need to start my own blog. Lucky me, I've already done that! So know all that remains is choosing topics on which to write and linking valid sites for information and such.
Because of the graphic explanation of the various methods of abortion, I will only talk about when various abortions are used. For example, which abortion method a woman can use when she is "X" amount of weeks pregnant. Also, I will be including scriptures from the King James Version of The Bible that support the pro-life stance, as well as statistics and side effects abortion can have.
The Merriam-Webster definition of abortion is: a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus. Note that in the full definitions to follow, the fetus is referred to as "human". One pro-abortion argument is that the fetus in a woman's womb is not "human" until said woman gives birth. Luke 2:21 reads, "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called Jesus, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." Life begins at conception. If the fetus grows and develops, it is just like any another living thing! A sure sign of life is growth and development! In Luke 1:41,  we read that John "leaped in the womb" of his mother Elisabeth. This is yet another sign of functioning life in the womb.
There are some people who are "pro-choice", meaning they support the idea that a woman can choose whether or not to have an abortion or give birth to the child they conceived. My friends, God alone has the right and the power to take a life. In Acts 17:24-25, Paul the Apostle tells the Athenians that the alter they had made to the "TO THE UNKNOWN GOD" was dedicated to the only true and living God. "God had made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he giveth to all life, breath, and all things.
Let that sink in. God, our Father, can create and destroy life. Who are we, sinful man that we are, to think that we have the same power as God? In books, movies, shows, etc., there have been countless characters who think that they can deal out punishment to the wicked or kill those who have done wrong (in some cases it is one and the same). It's no coincidence that another character asks "Do you think you're God?" (Or something along those lines). We KNOW that we do not have the right to take life, yet abortion is just that. You are taking the life of a helpless person who has not yet even seen the light of day.
Not only does God have the power to give life, but he knows all about us, even when we were yet in our mother's womb. Jeremiah 1:5 reads, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee..."
There are nine types of abortion today. More than 90% of all abortions are performed in the 1st trimester - up through 12 weeks. This method of abortion is called "suction aspiration" and as I said before, I will not be going into detail explaining these methods. Suffice it to say, all methods of abortion are painful for the baby. There is even a method of abortion where mothers carrying multiple children have the choice of killing one of those fetuses. Again, we DO NOT have the right to choose who lives and dies, especially not the innocent and unaware. Abortions can even be conducted in the SECOND AND THIRD TRIMESTERS! This method is called Dilation and Extraction (D&X or Partial Birth Abortion).

There are medical as well as emotional complications surrounding abortions.
Medical Complications include:

  • Heavy bleeding
  • Infection
  • Incomplete abortion
  • Sepsis
  • Anesthesia
  • Damage to the cervix
  • Scarring of the uterine lining
  • Uterine perforation
  • Damage to internal organs
  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
  • Endometritis
  • Death
Emotional Complications include:

  • Eating disorders
  • Relationship problems
  • Guilt
  • Depression
  • Flashbacks of abortion
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Alcohol and drug abuse
Abortions can also lead to higher risks of the following:
  • Breast cancer
  • Cervical, ovarian, and liver cancer
  • Placenta previa
  • Ectopic pregnancy
Some statistics of abortion are:
  • 1.1 million U.S. abortions each year.
  • Nearly 1 in 4 (22%) of pregnancies end in abortion
  • 50% of women now seeking abortion have had at least one previous abortion.
  • The U.S. abortion rate is among the highest of developed countries.
  • 51% of abortions are performed on women less than 25 years of age.
  • Approximately 1/3 of American women have had an abortion by age 45.
  • Abortion disproportionately affects black and Hispanic women.
In conclusion, abortion may seem like a solution for an unwanted pregnancy, but there are countless reasons why it is not THE solution: God alone has the power, right, and ability to give life and take it away. God wanted us to have children and he made us so that we could! A woman has a living human being inside her even at the time of conception, and that becomes more apparent to her with each passing day as the baby grows and develops. There are unavoidable medical and emotional side effects of an abortion, as well as increased risks of later diseases and disorders. We have the ability to give this tiny human being a happy and healthy life. and who are we to deny it that?
